Connecting with a classmate
January 23, 2020
Mrs. Schoeneck's Kindergarten class got to connect with a classmate who was at the TOP of a Colorado mountain!
He described what it was like to use the chair lift to get up the mountain, how the ski run was two miles long, and how the mountain was as high as THREE HUNDRED McKinley Schools stacked on top of each other!
The session ended with Charlie showing his classmates how he can slalom down the hill and "snowplow" to stop!

Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch
October 9, 2019
As if Turkey Gravy day isn't special enough, today was EXTRA special at McKinley School, where students experienced the "Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch", celebrating good nutrition and locally sourced apples.
The McKinley food services team of Marsha Johnson, Vicki Muchow and Angela Erickson did a terrific job of decorating the cafeteria to match the theme! Otto the Otter and a farmer completed the look!
Some of the kindergartners confirmed that apples are also useful in removing loose teeth.
Science Museum of Minnesota visits McKinley
May 7, 2019
The Otter PTO brought in the Minnesota Science Museum to teach Kindergarten and 1st grade students about different ways we hear and measure sound through vibration.
The kids LOVED it and the presenter was DELIGHTFUL!
