One-Act Play takes first at Sub-Sections
The one-act play cast and crew, under the direction of Allee Nickolauson, received 1st place for their performance for subsections and will advance to Sections against 5 other schools.
This year has been different with COVID and not traveling to a different school and stage. This cast and crew has had an extremely positive attitude! Meeting for most rehearsals on Google Meets and then rehearsing for only one week on stage with masks on. Their joy never failed! With the help of Leo Segura on lights and Nancy Reard on costumes, this production is very in-tune with what is going on in our world now, and these students tell the story with gusto and honesty. Here we come Sections!
About the play:
Three young people growing up in Nazi Germany struggle to claim their identities and transition into adulthood in this collage play about ethics, family, and self-perception. Marian's father wants to hide a Jewish family, but Marian just wants to fit in. Ernst joins the Hitler Youth but has trouble fully embracing the lifestyle. Rebecca endures discrimination from teachers and students for her Jewish heritage. No answers come easily as these three characters experience ordinary growing pains in the face of extraordinary historical tragedy.
